If you’re going to be planning a wedding soon, what better time to consider how you can use frames in your ceremony or reception?

Here are some ideas.

  • Use a large frame strung with wire and an instant camera which guests will use to snap photos of the celebrations to create an instant photo collage. Just hang the instant photos with small clips so people can hang photos as they take them.
  • Beautiful frames can be hung from trees or an archway to create a beautiful, classy photo background. Add flowers or greenery for an extra special touch.
  • Frame a small photo of the happy couple, use a large mat, and a frame that matches the décor to create a unique guest book for people to sign. They simply add their signature and at the end of the night, it’s an instant keepsake.
  • After the wedding, you can have your wedding dress or other accoutrements of the ceremony framed in a large shadow box. Frame Warehouse is up to the task of custom framing these items for you!
  • Use a large frame to put the program up where everyone can see it at the front of the ceremony instead of handing out individual programs.

Hand Lettering Basics

Hand lettering may not seem like something you are cut out for, but with a little instruction, a lot of practice, and a willingness to accept the occasional imperfection, you can create brilliant hand lettered posters and signs.

First, let’s learn a little about different styles of fonts. You may already know that serif fonts have small lines at the points of the letter and sans serif fonts do not. There are a million fonts out there for you to begin with, and it’s best to start with a relatively simple one as you get your feet under you. Think even strokes. You’ll want to find a font that you absolutely love to begin practicing, because you’ll be doing it over and over to get it nailed down!

You don’t need any particular items to get started, just something to write on and a pencil.

Start by trying to recreate the alphabet in your chosen font. Write very lightly to begin with so that you can easily erase. It is crushing to have half a perfect letter and not be able to fix up a less perfect aspect. Once you have a good outline, you can go in and add any depth that the font requires, making letters thicker or even just thickening the strokes in certain parts.

There are lots of printable practice worksheets available for various fonts so you can learn how to do fancier, calligraphy style fonts as well. Once you’ve mastered your font of choice, you can add ink or paint to make a more permanent piece of art.

Last, put your amazing creation in a frame and show it off to all the world! If you need an idea for which frame would be right for your creation, check out our Facebook page for advice!

How To Create a Heartfelt Housewarming Gift from a Frame

Moving is a time of new beginnings. It’s a chance to start fresh and aim to make your life just a little more ideal. If you know someone who has moved recently or is getting ready to move, you might be looking for a great housewarming present. It can be tough because oftentimes, people already have much of what they need to make their house a home. So, what kind of gift could add a little joy to their life without being superfluous? A personalized one!

You can create a personalized housewarming gift pretty simply with a frame. Here are a couple ideas for how to do just that:

  • Print off a map of their neighborhood and add a marker to their new address. Add ‘Home Sweet Home’ in either hand lettering or scrapbooking stickers if you’re not much of a penman.
  • If they’re making a big cross-country move or going from one country to another and away from you, a printed map with both their current home and their new destination is great. Add a little heart at each location, and connect them with a curly, swirly line to let them know that no matter how far they roam, they’re always in your heart.
  • Use stencils and paint over thin burlap or canvas covered boards in a frame to create a custom wall-hanging. You can use their name, address, and symbols like keys or stylized houses to add a special touch.

Whether they’re moving near or far, you can give your loved one the gift of knowing you care. For more personal gift ideas, check out the Frame Warehouse Facebook page!

Choosing the Perfect Mirror for Tracking Non-Scale Victories

Did you know that more people choose a fitness-related New Year’s resolution than any other type of goal? If you’re among those who are looking to lose a little extra weight, gain some muscle, or even just get more active come January 1, you might want to invest in a great mirror now.

The way you feel and the way you feel about the way you look are so much more important than the numbers that appear on your scale. If you feel healthier and you are more confident in your appearance, you’ve probably made a huge difference in your life with your healthier choices.

Choosing the Right Mirror

If you don’t have the perfect mirror to track your fitness goal progress, now is the perfect time to get one. First, you’ll want to choose a frame style that matches your décor in the space where you want to hang it. Bigger is definitely better when it comes to choosing a mirror for this purpose. That way, you can get a full-body view and you can use it to help check your form while you’re working out.

Mirror Placement

Place your fitness tracking mirror in an area that has plenty of open space so you can move around and check out how great you look in your skinny jeans. It also allows you room to exercise in front of the mirror.

How to Make a Holiday Card Display from a Frame

It’s hard to believe with summer just coming to a conclusion and summer-esque temperatures continuing in many places, but the holiday season will be upon us before we know it! Now is the perfect time to start sorting out your holiday décor so it doesn’t get away from you.

To get you on your day to masterful holiday décor, consider creating a holiday card display. There are several advantages to these displays, such as:

  • They make use of something you’ll already receive, which is a great use of resources.
  • When someone who sent you a card sees the display, they’ll get a fuzzy feeling knowing you liked it enough to display it.
  • They serve as a great visual reminder for more wholesome reasons behind the holiday season: those we love and cherish.
  • Holiday cards are beautiful; it’d be a shame not to show them off!

Create a holiday card frame display that is congruent with your décor. That will mean picking and choosing from the ideas below to create a display that suits your needs.

Now, let’s go over some various options for creating your frame holiday card holder and cover some pertinent questions you need to ask yourself when you’re planning your DIY project.

Hanging Options

You can use several different materials within the frame to hang your cards. Chicken wire, jute string, battery powered LED light strings, satin ribbon, or a relatively flexible wire are all great options. You can also glue clips around the edges of a small frame for a display dominated by the cards.

For chicken wire, simply cut a piece of the wire that’s just slightly smaller than the outside perimeter of the frame of your choice, then line it up and staple the wire to the frame.

For all of the other materials, decide whether you’ll hang the wire/string/ribbon in neat, even rows or if a diagonal, free-form rows are right for you. Use finishing staples to stick down your chosen material in the format of your choice.

Use little clothes pins or binder clips to hang cards from the strings or wire. You can add other decorations to your frame to make it a little more aesthetically pleasing, too, like burlap bows or small wreaths.

Frames that Transition from Fall to Winter

For many people, the last few months of the year are the busiest. There are holiday parties to attend, harvest festivals, sporting events, and plenty of work around the house to prepare for winter.

Fall and winter are also the most fun to decorate for. The changing of seasons and the beauty of autumn’s changing colors or the sparkle and glow of the first snow of the winter season lend us endless sources of inspiration for decorating our homes. We also tend to wind up inside more often as the weather gets cooler, and it’s nice to have something beautiful to look out while we’re stuck within four walls.

Decorating for both seasons can be quite the hassle though. One way to ease that burden is by using décor that transitions well from fall to winter. Here are our top picks for Frame Warehouse frames that are applicable when decorating for both, saving you time and money.

  1. Barnwood- Barnwood is perfect for fall and winter decorating. It’s warm, organic, and incredibly versatile. Printables from either season will go great in wide barnwood frame.
  2. Burnished Gold- Metallics have a lot to offer by way of depth and drama, and a burnished gold frame is a great go-between during the latter months.
  3. Red- Red is a color iconic of both fall, indicative of changing leaves, and winter, with it being a classic Christmas color. Red frames will work for both. Even if Christmas isn’t your thing, red is warm and cozy which is perfect for cold winters.
  4. Ornate- Very detailed frames are great for both fall and winter. They add depth and a hint of warmth without disturbing the color scheme one bit. Frame Warehouse’s black ornate frame is perfect for fall/winter transitional décor.
  5. Walnut- Finished in a rich, dark stain, walnut wood frames are a perfect neutral frame across the seasons. A dark-waxed walnut frame is perfect for adding gravity to your fall or winter prints.

Choosing the Right Frame for Your Certificate or Diploma

Whether hanging your credentials on the wall is necessary in your line of work or whether it’s optional, you definitely want to choose the perfect frame. Having your achievements surrounded well will help it to blend into its surroundings, becoming a part of the general décor. It will also help it stand out, highlighting your accomplishments in a way that is tasteful and classy.

Custom frames and mats work great for these items because they’re not necessarily standard sized. With custom frames from Frame Warehouse, you can choose the perfect frame and/or mat so that you can hang your credentials with pride.

Here are some tips to help you pick the right frame for your diploma or certificate.

Pick Something that Works with Existing Décor

Is your office or workspace posh and modern, or is it cozy and warm? Is it rugged and manly or bright and airy? Whatever it is, there’s a frame that will work with it. This helps turn your important document into an attractive focal point in the room. For a modern look, consider a metal frame. For a lounge feel, think dark, ornate frames. For a cozy space, choose a warm colored frame that will pop. For an airy, feminine space, look into minimalist white frames with beautiful, tonal mats.

To Mat or Not to Mat?

In part, this will depend on where you intend to place your credentials. Will they be hanging on the wall or will they sit in a stand-up frame on a desk or shelf? How much space do you have? If space is at a premium, you might opt for no mat.

Will it be hung amongst other items on a busy wall? If so, a mat may help your certificate to be more visible. The negative space around the item may help draw the eye where you need it to go. Generally speaking, mats make your frame job look more professional and add sophistication to the whole piece.

Custom Terrariums: You Can DIY These Ideal Plant Homes

Succulents are huge in home décor right now. They’ve put house plants at the top of many decorator’s must-have lists, and there is a type of succulent that will likely appeal to every taste. They can be tough to grow depending on which variety you choose, though. A terrarium can help you keep your precious plants alive indoors year round.

A terrarium is a sort of indoor greenhouse used for housing plants indoors. Certain types of plants grow very well in them, like succulents, due to the fact that they hold moisture in and stay warmer than the air around them. They are usually enclosed glass structures, but you can make one of your very own out of frames fitted with glass. You’ll need to think about a few things before you order frames to put together a terrarium, namely:

  • How big is the plant/pot you’re hoping to house?
  • Would you prefer a three or four sided structure?
  • What style and color of frame would look good with both your plant and your décor?

To create your custom terrarium, simply hot glue the glass into the frame all the way around to create a seal. Then, set up your frames upright at the necessary angles to create a square or triangle structure, like walls, and glue along those joints, too. To close off the top, you can glue on a piece of sheet metal or glass cut to size. Then simply set the terrarium over top of the plant you want to house where you want to display it!

Creating a Family Tree with Frames

jun_family

Whether you’re a curious genealogist or simply live far away from family and want to keep them close, creating a beautiful family tree can bring your extended family into your home without the need to make up the hide-a-bed.

Finding the Right Place for Your Family Tree

You’ll want to choose an open wall in your home that is cleared of other decorations. This sort of project generally takes up a large amount of space, so find an area at least eight feet across to provide ample room for your tree to grow.

Choose a Tree

You can use either vinyl cutouts that stick to the wall or stencils and paint to create your tree. If you’re particularly artistic, you might even consider attempting a free-hand tree in pencil and then painting it. Search for a tree design that works well with your décor, whether that is a more modern, rounded design or a spiky, gnarled traditional tree.

Adding Photos

There’s a lot of room for customization in the photo part of this project, too. Choose frames in colors and styles that match your décor and blend well with your tree design. Use color photos for a brighter effect or black and white photos to lend a more muted tone.

You can add as many or as few family members as you like to your family tree. Use this wall décor project to show your kids family they missed the chance to meet or to keep loved ones close to your heart. For more unique frame ideas, check us out on Pinterest!
